INTRO TO PICKLEBALL

LWV Pickleball Club offers "Intro to Pickleball" sessions for those new to the sport, with no Club membership required. Classes are from 4-6 pm Tuesdays at the indoor courts in the mini-gym in Clubhouse 1 (adjoining the Fitness Center). Sessions are limited to 8 players, and you must register for a slot via the CALENDAR on this website. Contact Dave Hastings at dlhcog4@yahoo.com with any questions. NOTE: Because Clubhouse 1 is closed for renovation, this class will be offered on the outdoor courts (Gate 12) until September 2024. Check the Calendar for the time, as this may change due to heat and/or busy courts.

BATT Lesson: Graduates of the Intro to Pickleball session who join the Pickleball Club are invited to participate in a Beginners and Technique Training (BATT) lesson given by Coach Allan Galera, LW pickleball pro player and instructor. In this single group lesson sponsored by the Club, you will learn the basic strokes and good technique. 

THE BASICS

1. Read the rules!  Playing in LW.  You must be familiar with GRF operating procedures, court conduct, court hours, etc.
2. Wear suitable shoes (tennis shoes with good support, plenty of tread and non-marking soles) and comfortable clothes.  Sunglasses or safety glasses are also recommended.
3. We have a couple of loaner paddles and some balls for your use for the Intro session. Additionally, the Golf Pro Shop has paddles to borrow for general play when you provide your resident's card. The Golf Pro Shop also has balls for sale.
4. Most sporting goods stores (PGA Superstore, Dicks, Big 5, etc.) carry pickleball equipment and you can purchase online through pickleball sites such as  Pickleball Central and Engage or from Amazon.
