RALLY SCORING

Rally scoring awards a point on every single rally regardless of which team served, but your team must be serving to win the game.

1. The basic rules of earning a point are the same (serve, kitchen, line calls etc.).

2. Games are played to 21, win by 2.  Switch sides when one team hits 11.

3. Before each game, teammates decide who plays on the right and left side, and they stay on that side for the entire game. 

4. Serving: Whenever your team serves and has an even score, the player on the right side serves. When your team has an odd score, the player on the left side serves.  Your team continues to serve alternating servers as long as your side wins points.  If your team loses a point it's side out, and the other team serves.

5. Every point won by either team counts except for the game winning point.

6. Game winning point: Your team must be serving to win the game. If you need one point to win the game and the other team is serving and you win the point, your score stays the same, it’s side out, your team serves.

MLP FORMAT

1. Major League Pickleball's (MLP) format is a co-ed team structure. Each team consists of two pairs of players who will play four games within their team:

• Women's Doubles
• Men's Doubles
• Mixed Doubles (Game 1)
• Mixed Doubles (Game 2)

2. Games are played to 21 points using rally scoring.

3. Each player keeps a tally of their total points.

4. Laguna Woods Pickleball Club tiebreaker: If the teams are tied 2-2 after four games, the win goes to the team with the most points across their four matches.
